1. How would you describe your overall level of satisfaction with us as your tour operator?
I have never taken a planned group tour before and had always prided myself on doing my own research. But after COVID and a health scare, I just went all in and turned over the keys to InsideJapan. I’m so glad I did. The tour itself and our guide Paul exceeded my expectations all around. The accommodations were all far better than I expected and folding in the hotel breakfasts was perfect. We could load up on a wild assortment of Western and Japanese breakfast foods and then eat cheap conbini meals for the rest of the day. I thought the value overall, given this and all of the other ticketing and transportation needs included, was terrific. The small group size also wa ideal and I enjoyed getting to know our fellow travelers. I feel like I now have a base knowledge of Japan that will make a return visit so much easier. This was supposed to be a bucket list trip but I loved what I saw so much — a realized with Google Translate that language isn’t the issue you’d think — that I will definitely go back.

2. Tour Leader name and satisfaction rating
Paul would frequently buy us a locally-made snack — bean paste-stuffed sweets or a sulphur black egg — from each stop on the tour. It was a little thing but such a thoughtful detail that exemplified his approach. He wanted to make sure we weren’t missing out and truly cared we were having a good time. But I also knew we were in good hands if something went awry. When someone in our group left her phone in a hotel. Paul calmly snapped in to action and the phone and owner were shortly reunited. All of my anxiety about traveling such a long distance with the potential for a health issue reoccurrence melted away at that moment. I would go on another adventure with Paul and heartily recommend it!

Kelly was patient with me as I had no clue what I wanted, at first, other than to go to Japan. She listened, put a tour together, then happily scrapped it as I went in another direction. When I got the final trip plans a few weeks before we left, I was so excited to see it included the sumo tournament we’d talked about. What a fantastic addition, so memorable!

5. How would you rate the accommodation against your expectations?
I had no idea what “business class” meant in Japan so I was honestly a little worried. But I found all of the hotels modern, clean and ideally situated near shops and trains.

6. Please give us your comments on the transport included in your package.
Whew, it’s a job understanding the train system and I was so glad Paul was there. Especially loved the first-class upgrade he landed on the pirate ship! That was an insane day of multiple modes of transportation ended in an onset. Epic!

7. Please tell us your thoughts on the meals included during your tour.
Who knew 7-11 was so good? I was expecting sushi but this trip opened my eyes to ramen and so much more, and inexpensively to boot.

I wouldn’t do a group tour again but I could see using you for the arrangements. I see a lot of people online (Reddit) agonize about this and now trust you all to take care of the details. The peace of mind is well worth the expense.
